36% more IPTV subscribers in 2012

US research firm MRG showed that demand for IPTV services was picking up “significantly” last year.

It estimates that the number of IPTV subscribers worldwide rose 36% in 2012 to reach 77 million, with strong growth in all geographic regions.

The number for all Pay-TV subscribers rose 8% and it’s soon to reach 800 million. Global number of cable TV users is now over 520 million and the majority of global subscribers growth especially in Asia (China, India and Vietnam).
